Do Thi My Huyen, Duong Thi Hai Yen, Mai Thi Thanh Trang and Ha Thi Thuy Trang, all ninth-graders of the Cu Kuin Secondary School in Cu Kuin District, drowned after the boat they were rowing capsized.

The bodies of the four girls were recovered later that day by nearby residents.
The four girls' families said the girls cannot swim.
According to the Children Protection and Care Department, 10 of 20 daily child deaths in Vietnam are caused by drowning.
