Four people died and two were critically injured when a car hit a motorbike and plunged into a canal in the southern province of Tay Ninh Tuesday.
Two people who were travelling on the motorbike hit by a Toyota Camry before the car plunged into the Dong Canal in Duong Minh Chau Distric were also injured.
Locals said they tried to save the five passengers in the car, but the windows were tightly closed. They only managed to save one while the others, including the driver, died of suffocation.
Initial investigations indicate that the driver was drunk and driving at such high speed that he lost control while making a turn at the canal, Tay Ninh police said.
The accident is being investigated further.
