Four dead in northern gold mine collapse

An illegal gold mine collapse killed four people and left one with brain damage in the northernwestern mountainous province of Ha Giang Sunday night.

Two of the dead have been identified as Tran Cong Linh, 20, and Hoang Van Hoan. Both of them were from Ngoc Linh Commune, Vi Xuyen District.

The bodies of two others lost in the mine have not been found, but they are presumed dead. Tran Van Binh was injured in the incident and has been sent to Vi Xuyen General Hospital with broken arms and a head injury that doctors said has caused brain damage.

Their mine collapsed at 8:30 p.m. at Pa Thay Mountain in Linh Ho Commune, Vi Xuyen District.

Rescuers are searching for the two missing people.
