Police in Ho Chi Minh City Friday arrested four people, including a teenager, for investigating the murder of an 18-year-old youth when they robbed a restaurant early this month.

Tran Cong Chon, his twin brother Tran Cong Chat, 21, and 24-year-old Nguyen Thi Yen Tuyet were former employees of Thao Nguyen Xanh Restaurant in Binh Chanh District.

After the restaurant's owner, Le Minh Tung, closed the business because of losses, the trio had no jobs  and didn't have money to pay their house rents, so they decided to rob the restaurant, adding Le Minh Loc, 16, as an accomplice, police said.

Media reports have said that Loc was in love with the twin's sister and hoped to gain their approval by joining the crime.

Early in the morning on August 9, they asked Le Minh Tam, Tung's 18-year-old son, to put them up for that day. However, when Tung let them in, Chon strangled him, while others held him, police said.

They are believed to have told the police that they killed Tam because he could identify them later.

They hid the body in a 0.5 meter-wide sewage hole next to the restaurant, the Nguoi Lao Dong reported. The restaurant had closed three months earlier, and Tam had been asked by his father to stay there to look after the place, the report said.

After the murder, the four people took away two personal computers, a mobile phone, and a motorbike, police said.

Tam's body was found on August 13 by Tran Kim Hoang, who lives nearby, as she tried to find out where an unpleasant smell was coming from.

The case is being investigated further, police said.
