Police in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province on Vietnam's southern coast have detained a young man who trafficked heroin into his former rehab center.

Nguyen Manh Quan, 28, was caught outside the province's Vocational Center on May 5 when he was about to throw heroin into the center for addict inmates.

Investigations showed Quan was smuggling the heroin, worth VND1 million (US$48) to Do Huu Nhan, a 30-year-old patient who has been contacting Quan frequently after he left the rehab center.

Quan had been successful at least once previously, when he smuggled VND500,000 worth of drugs for Nhan and two other patients, police said.
