Authorities in the southern province of Dong Nai announced taking action against a forest warden and ranger for mediating the illegal trade of protected wild animal meat.
Le Quoc Van, a forest warden in Vinh Cuu’s district, was admonished for overseeing an illicit trade in bear gall bladders.
His actions were exposed through a Tuoi Tre newspaper investigation on September 6.
Van reportedly advised wild meat traders how to avoid official inspections.
Authorities also reprimanded Mai Ngoc Dat, a protected forest ranger for the same violations.
The disciplined officers admitted to having violated their professional code and having damaged the reputation of their fellow officers.
The supervisors of both of the disgraced officials were also censured for professional negligence.
