Six foreigners were arrested in Ho Chi Minh City Friday for using fake credit cards.
The ring was busted when two members, Saravanan Navanithan, 22, and Shankaran Shamugam, 29, were caught using fraudulent cards to buy a luxury computer worth more than VND18 million (US$864) at a shop on Ton That Tung Street in District 1, Tuoi Tre reported.
Their first two Visa cards were rejected by the card reader as erroneous; only the third card worked.
A shop employee called Agribank, stated as the provider on the cards, and their information was found not matching the bank's records.
The employee then called the police to report the suspicious behavior.
Police found the men in possession of 13 other fake credit cards.
Further investigation led the police to four additional suspects, allegedly friends of the men, and more than 20 credit cards presumed to be fake in their hotel rooms in Districts 1 and 5.
Police have not released any information on the nationality of the suspects.
