An appeals court in Vietnam on Wednesday expelled a Russian man from Vietnam for violating road traffic regulations and causing the death of a Vietnamese in April.
The court announced its verdict following an appeal applied by Makhov Vladimir Vladimirovich, 44.
The court in Ho Chi Minh City said it was annulling the previous sentence of 18 months in jail handed down to Vladimirovich at the first trial, because he had been honest and straightforward with investigators and is currently suffering a serious disease.
According to the indictment, Vladimirovich on April 14 last year took his wife from the Thuy Si Resort in Phan Thiet Town in the central province of Binh Thuan to Mui Ne Town by car, although he didn't have a Vietnamese driving license.
On his way, he crashed into a street vendor, who succumbed later to critical injuries.
