Taiwanese police arrested five Vietnamese nationals in connection with the death of another Vietnamese, CNA reported on Tuesday.
The deceased, whom police identified as Nguyen, suffered five stab wounds in the back in a fight in Xizhi, New Taipei, on Dec. 6, the report said.
Nguyen and a dozen Vietnamese workers were at a birthday party of a female coworker on the same day when the fight broke out, allegedly because another man became jealous after seeing the birthday girl interacting closely with Nguyen, the report said.
The other man and some friends then ambushed Nguyen outside the restaurant, and attacked him with clubs and fruit knives.
Taiwanese police tracked down the five suspects to an apartment in Hsinchu City Tuesday and sent them to the Shilin District Prosecutors Office for a criminal investigation.
