Police in southern Vietnam on Tuesday detained five people involved in two recent chases that killed two people.

In one chase that occurred on Monday, Dao Huu Binh had allegedly stabbed Tran Dinh Quoc, 21, who died later at a hospital in Dong Nai Province neighboring Ho Chi Minh City.

Binh was then stabbed with severe injuries by an unidentified friend of Quoc. He was summoned to a local police station for investigation after recovery.

In another fatal chase on Sunday, four other men received a three-month detainment pending murder charges for killing 21-year-old Ha Duy Luong on the street.

The four detained men include Vu Van Nguyen, Mai Van Lam, Ho Van Thanh and Pham Van Hai, all in their 20s.

They had a small conflict with two others at a wedding party and mistook Luong for one of the two.
