Five children swept away by river in northern Vietnam, one rescued

Rescue workers have been able to save just one of five unidentified midschool students who were swept away by river currents in the northeastern province of Tuyen Quang on Sunday.

The Vietnam News Agency reported that five students of the Khanh Nhat Secondary School in Son Duong District were carried away by the Pho Day River in a mountainous village on Sunday afternoon.

One of the five was later rescued and rushed to the local hospital.

As of Sunday evening, the rescue workers had not been able to find any trace of the remaining four students.

Further details about the accident, including identities of the five students have not been released.
