A fire broke out in a family home in central Hanoi and killed one and injured three others on Sunday.
The fire broke out at noon while Do Van Nhan, 39, was repairing electronics on the first floor of his three-floor home in Tu Liem District.
Authorities say that flames quickly spread to two ten-litre bottles of alcohol, which ignited and spread the flames to three adjacent motorbikes.
Several explosions were heard. Soon afterwards, the entrances to Nhan's house were engulfed in flames, witnesses said.
Nhan's older brother, Nguyen Van Vung, burst into the house and rescued his broher, his wife and their 19-year-old daughter, according to witnesses.
The trio was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. Nhan's oldest daughter, 21, was trapped in the fire and died on the spot.
Police are still investigating the cause of the inferno.
