A 2,000-square-meter warehouse in Ho Chi Minh City was destroyed in a fire Wednesday, causing losses worth more than VND3 billion (US$144,000). But no casualties were reported.
Witnesses said they heard a big explosion inside the Tan Phu District-based electronics and cloth warehouse at around 4.50 p.m. when workers were loading goods on trucks.
Soon a fire flared up and spread despite workers' efforts to put it out with extinguishers, they said.
Ten minutes later a dozen fire engines arrived at the site.
But they took more than an hour to put out the blaze.
Local agencies are investigating the cause.
