A tourist boat catches fire in Hoi An on February 18, 2016
A tourist boat was engulfed in flames and sank when it was docked in the ancient town of Hoi An ancient on Thursday. No casualties have been reported.
The fire happened at around 8:30 a.m. when the boat of Song Hoi Travel Company was at Cua Dai Port.
Firefighters and local border guards managed to evacuate other boats nearby and successfully prevented it from spreading, Tran Van Ba, head of Cua Dai's board guard station, told Thanh Nien.
He said the damage is estimated to cost VND600 million (US$26,468) and that the incident could have been caused by some electrical problem with the boat's engine.
The boat was used to take tourists from the town center to Cu Lao Cham, a chain of small islands famous for pristine beaches.
