A court in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday handed down a death sentence to a Filipino woman who was found guilty of smuggling nearly 1.5 kilograms of cocaine into Vietnam in 2013.
Donna Buena Mazon, 41, was caught with two bags of cocaine at Tan Son Nhat International Airport on December 31, 2013.
She came on a Qatar Airways flight from Brazil.
The woman said she was hired by a person known as Precious Rudica to bring the drug to Vietnam for a fee of US$3,000. She was provided with the flight tickets and visas.
Authorities have not been able to locate this Rudica yet.
