The Ho Chi Minh City police Monday put out a warrant for a Filipino for allegedly killing a compatriot over a chess argument.
The police said Alexande Samot, better known as Rex, 55, had stabbed Rebutoc Ronaldo Barilo, also known as Bong, 40, at a rented house in Binh Thanh District on January 31, Lunar New Year's Day.
Police investigated and found that their game of chess had turned into a quarrel, causing Samot to fetch the knife from the kitchen and stab Barilo.
Barilo was rushed to a hospital by neighbors, but doctors said he was dead on arrival.
Samot forced Michael Reyes, another Filipino living in the house, to drive him away on a motorbike at knifepoint.
Reyes told the police he slowed down after a while and Samot jumped off and disappeared into an alley.
Samot has taken his wife and child from the rented house and to her family's house in another district.
Information about his whereabouts can be reported to the police at 08.38387414.
