Police in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang are investigating a case in which a man allegedly strangled his two daughters to death before committing suicide.
Nguyen Xuan Binh, 31, and his daughters were found dead in their house in the town of Long Xuyen on Sunday.
At around 8 a.m. that day, Binh’s father dropped by the house and found the door had been locked from the inside.
He asked the neighbors for help. They broke the door and came in. They found the bodies of the two girls, aged 4 and 8, on the floor.
They rushed upstairs and found Binh’s body. He apparently hanged himself.
Police also believed he had tried to cut his wrists.
Medical examiners ruled out poisoning and concluded the two girls had been strangled.
Neighbors said Binh and his wife had been fighting a lot recently. His wife reportedly wanted a divorce.
She was usually absent from home for work, according to the police.
Police said they have found a note in the house, and are verifying if it was Binh's.
