Their bodies were found on Thursday afternoon by two farmers who went fishing in a stream near the huts in Phong village.
Since the huts were located deep in a forest, it took local police officers more than three hours to reach the scene on foot.
The murdered victims were identified as Lo Van Tho, 28, his wife Le Thi Yen and their 1-year-old son, and Tho’s mother Vieng Thi Chuong, 70.
They sustained multiple slash wounds to their bodies, the police said.
Tho's family stayed in the huts to work their farms nearby, according to the police.
