A family of three including a three-year-old son were killed Sunday when a train hit their motorbike at an unmanned crossing in the south central province of Binh Dinh.

The father, 56-year-old Ho Minh Dieu who was driving the motorbike, had lost one arm and one eye in the war.

Local reports said that residents in the area cross the north-south railway track everyday, but it does not have any fence or sign, and trees planted along the tracks obstruct the view of travellers.

The police said they are carrying out further investigations into the accident.
