Initial investigations found the glass awning broke and fell as workers were installing decorative banners for the upcoming Tet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year) festival, Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper reported.
The glass shattered into tiny pieces on the ground, leaving behind blood stains and two banners waiting to be hanged.
The hotel manager brought the tourist to hospital. The victim has yet to be identified.
