Authorities in southern Vietnam have seized four endangered gibbons raised illegally at local houses, the Vietnam News Agency reported.
Forest rangers in Binh Duong Province said on Wednesday that the four white cheek gibbons have been brought to the province's forest ranger station.
Two of them were found at an illegal wildlife farm, where many other wild animals were found. The farm owner failed to present legitimate origination documents for the gibbons and other animals.
White cheek gibbons, know scientifically as the Hylobates genus of the Nomascus species, can be found in the wild in Vietnam's northern and north central regions.
Vietnamese law prohibits all kinds of confined breeding, poaching and trade of the animal.
