An elderly couple was killed at their home in the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang on Sunday and police said they are using security camera images to track down a suspect.
On Sunday morning, Tran Van Phuoc, the manager of a local coffee company, reportedly entered the villa, which also served as the company’s main office.
He found the dead bodies of Luong Van Dau, 67, and Vo Thi Nam, 63, in their bedroom on the second floor.
The couple were stabbed several times and had their throats cut, police said.
The villa belongs to the victims' son, Luong Van Triem, who seldom stays there. His 15-year-old son was sleeping safely in another room.
Police said the security camera showed a masked person climbing the fence into the house at around 1:45 a.m, carrying a hammer and a knife. The person left the house one hour later.
There were nearly no traces left and a safe inside the house was not broken. A bag was missing.
Police said they are looking for the suspect.
