Eight seamen from the central province of Quang Ngai were rescued Saturday morning after two days of drifting in the sea after their boat's engine broke down.

The fishermen, including captain Pham Van Quang, set out to sea Thursday on the QNg-B017 boat. Not long after, their boat's engine stopped working. Strong winds and rough seas then sent took the boat to Tam Quan sea area off the nearby province of Binh Dinh, 60 nautical miles from their site.

Vo Van Thanh, captain of QNg-91737-TS, also from Quang Ngai, took the fishermen ashore after discovering the boat with all the seamen unconsciousness because of hunger and cold at about 4 a.m. on Saturday.

The rescued fishermen are now recovering, local officials said.
