Police from the Ministry of Public Security on Tuesday said they had arrested seven people for allegedly trafficking synthetic drugs from China into Vietnam.
Investigators said the ring was buying drugs in bulk in China and then bringing them into Vietnam through the Mong Cai border gate in the northern province of Quang Ninh, according to the ministry's Drug Criminals Investigation Agency (C17).
The drugs were hidden under other goods when in transport, mainly by car, before being sold in Quang Ninh, the northern city of Hai Phong, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, C17 said.
Since the ring was busted on March 12, C17 has confiscated more than 4,000 drug doses from people involved, who came from different localities stretching from the northern province of Hai Duong to the Mekong Delta's Dong Thap in the south.
Police are continuing the investigation.
