Police in the central Vietnam on Sunday arrested a 48-year-old man for allegedly threatening his mother and neighbors with bombs and demanding money to buy drugs, news website VnExpress reported.
On July 19 Lo Van My, a drug addict in Nghe An Province who once served time for robbery, asked his mother, whose name was not revealed, to give him money for buying drugs, but she refused.
He then threatened to bomb the house, sending his scared mother scurrying to borrow money.
While she was out, My took the bomb to a neighbor's house and demanded money. But since the family did not have money, My took away a sack of rice.
Police later found a grenade in his house, VnExpress said. They are likely to charge him with "illegal possession of military weapons" and "depriving others of their properties."
