Police in Ho Chi Minh City said a man turned himself in on Monday for his involvement in a hit-and-run that claimed the life of a Danish businessman in District 2.
Truong Thuan Thanh, 22, admitted that he fled the crash scene early Saturday morning right after the collision between his four-seater car and the motorbike of Walther Bilde on Mai Chi Tho Street, near the Thu Thiem Tunnel.
Thanh told police that he could see the victim lying unconscious on the street from his rear-view mirror. He was so frightened and drove away.
Bilde, 51, succumbed to severe injuries at Gia Dinh Hospital hours after the incident, which happened at around 1:25 a.m.
Bilde was the founder of Saigon Vespa Tour, which provides city tours and short trips to neighboring provinces on motorbikes.
Thanh, who has recently returned home after studying overseas, is now in police custody for further investigation.
