A tree was uprooted during a storm in Ho Chi Minh City Wednesday night and collapsed on a car, but the driver luckily survived.
Tran Xuan Nghia stopped his car on Dinh Tien Hoang Street in District 1 during the thunderstorm at around 6 p.m. to drop off four foreigners, soon before the tamarind tree tumbled down along the sidewalk and smashed the car.
Locals pulled the 52-year-old out of the car. He only suffered minor injuries.
A rescuer said he heard a loud noise and he looked up only to see the tree had crushed the car’s front.
