Eighty-four drug patients broke out of a rehabilitation center in the central province of Quang Nam on Friday, leaving nearby communities anxious and scared, the center's director told Thanh Nien.

Nguyen Xuan Sinh, director of Quang Nam Center for Social Labor and Education, said the addicts broke through a wall between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. that day.

The center immediately sent an urgent letter to related agencies in Hiep Duc District, where the center is located, asking for help in locating the patients who came from various localities, according to Sinh.

33 people have been located and sent back to the center, according to media reports.

The patients have been required by law to live at the drug addiction treatment centers by criminal courts.
