Ho Chi Minh City authorities seized the carcasses of two tiger cubs, two bear cubs and other animal parts from a bus Friday.

A team of market management officers and traffic police in Thu Duc District pulled over the bus, which was traveling from Dong Nai Province to HCMC on National Highway 1A, for a routine stop at a checkpoint around 9:30 a.m.

They found the carcasses of two frozen tiger cubs, which weighed four kilograms each, two bear cubs weighing 3.7 kilograms and 1.4 kilograms each, eight bear legs and 147 kilograms of rotten buffalo and cow tails and legs.

Bus driver Ngo Minh Xuyen, 35, of Nghe An Province failed to produce papers to prove the origins of the cargo.

He told police he was hired by a man to transport the products from Quang Binh Province to Lam Hong Bus Station in Thu Duc District, where the products would be received by another man.

The dead wildlife was handed over to the HCMC Forest Protection Department.
