The central Vietnamese city of Da Nang will cooperate with some ASEAN countries in carrying out sea rescues and mitigating natural disasters like typhoons, a senior official said Thursday.

Ho Pho, vice director of the city's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said the city's collaboration with Indonesia, Myanmar, Malaysia and the Philippines will also over seafood production, processing, and exploitation.

However, Pho didn't say when the collaboration program will be launched.

Currently Da Nang has 97 marine exploitation teams with 699 fishing boats, he said, adding that they have joined several sea rescue efforts, saving 114 fishermen in recent times, including four Chinese nationals.
