Tourist police teams will be set up in all seven of Da Nang's districts to prevent street vendors from hassling tourists, authorities in the central Vietnamese city said Wednesday.
The teams would work closely with the local police and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to punish erring street vendors.
In districts with more tourist destinations, they would have more members, the authorities said.
In 2010 the city Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism set up a tourist police squad, but it has only 13 officers who oversee just a few tourist hot spots.
The team has been unable to cope with the huge number of street vendors and brokers at tourist spots, who sometimes even threaten the officers.
