The Da Nang government has ordered its construction department to build walkways through hotels and resorts for local people to get access to beaches, news website VnExpress reported.
Huynh Duc Tho, chairman of Da Nang People’s Committee, told the department in a meeting Wednesday to adjust the planning of seaside resorts and hotels so that they would not block public beach use.
He said the city government will be willing to fund the shortcuts, from 15 to 20 meters long, leading to the beaches through hotels and resorts.
According to Tho, the city government did not encourage the developers of these projects to build fences, but in fact nearly all seaside hotels and resorts are enclosed by tall fences.
He said city authorities should ask the developers to remove these fences.
