Customs officers of Da Nang International Airport have seized more than 4 kilos of ephedrine, a material used to make methamphetamine, a representative of the office said on Wednesday.
The customs officers found the banned ingredient after opening a suspicious package, weighing 2.1 kilos, which was sent as a “present” from a Da Nang local to someone in Australia.
Tests from the city’s criminal police showed that the “present” was all ephedrine, a stimulant used to produce methamphetamine.
Da Nang customs officers seized another parcel containing around 2.2 kilos of ephedrine split into four small bags on August 4.
A local in Quang Nam Province had mailed it to Australia.
