The police chief of Bac Kan, a province in northern Vietnam, has confirmed that a man seen pulling a knife on another in a viral video today is indeed one of his officers.
Lieutenant General Ma Van La told the Cong Ly news website that the knife wielding man seen in the video was Trieu Van Thu, a police officer of Ba Be District, Bac Kan. Thu has been suspended as police is looking into the case, Lt. Gen. La said.

In the video, Thu, in police uniform and wearing a crash helmet, is seen throwing something at a driver in a truck cabin, before pulling the driver out of the truck.
The driver, identified by Lt. Gen. La as Hoang Manh Dong, 32, is heard saying he didn't do anything wrong, and challenging Thu to hit him.
Thu, who grabbed Dong by the collar, hit Dong first, and pair traded punches until Thu suddenly pulled a knife he had hidden under his clothes.
Luckily, however, some men in the audience rushed in and broke up the fight, helping the truck driver escape. The officer then drove away on his motorbike.
According to Cong Ly, the cause of the fight is jealousy.
