The central city of Da Nang's tourism department ordered a local company to stop using the name "China Beach" to promote its tourism products on Thursday.

Under the order, the Ben Thanh Non Nuoc Corporation had to destroy all publications referring the Non Nuoc Beach, which is part of Da Nang Beach, as "China Beach," according to Nguyen Phuc Linh, vice director of the Danang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The corporation, which owns the Non Nuoc Resort at the beach, was also required to ban its staff from using the phrase in all its transactions, remove the phrase from related websites, and ask its partners to do the same.

The department also issued the same orders to other local hotels and tourism services, and launched inspections to make sure that the phrase was no longer in use, Linh said.

Recently local media and tourists have complained that the Non Nuoc Resort and several tourism services in Da Nang are misleading foreign tourists by calling the Vietnamese beach China Beach, which was the name used by US soldiers during the Vietnam War.
