Prosecutors in Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday transferred to the city court the indictment against ten people who broke out of prison last October after getting a saw blade during a family visit.
Nguyen Minh Hung, who organized the prison break, was also accused of robbery as he managed to get a motorbike right after getting out, the local newswire Vnexpress reported.
The details of penalties suggested by prosecutors were not released
Hung used a cell phone that another prisoner secretly got from his family to ask a woman to bring him the blade. The identity of the woman is not known yet.
They sawed through two iron bars and used the bars to dig the floor, creating a tunnel to break out on the early morning of October 17.
There were 16 people being detained temporarily at Tan Phu District detainment facility, but the other six refused to join the escape plan.
Investigators from the Supreme People's Procuracy, the country's top prosecutors office, have also suggested charges against officials and guards at the Tan Phu District police station.
