Prosecutors in the central province of Phu Yen have pressed charges of murder against two members of a circus troupe for electrocuting an eight-year-old boy to death.
According to the indictment issued Tuesday (January 25), Nguyen Van Chien, 22, and Tran Quoc Tuan, 21, both performers with the Binh Minh Circus from the northern province of Ninh Binh were assigned to maintain security around the place where the circus performed on April 17 last year.
The circus's stage was surrounded by mesh fence that many children broke through to watch the performance.
Chien and Tuan asked them to get out and buy tickets, prosecutors said, and when the children refused to obey, the duo rigged the steel mesh with electricity to stop them.
One of the kids, 8-year-old Nguyen Tran Gia Quan, was electrocuted and died on the spot.
