A Chinese metal processer in Phu Yen Province in south central Vietnam was fined VND100 million ($5,000) Tuesday for causing environmental damage.

Son Giang Metal Processing Company has also been ordered to clean up the effects of its pollution within 10 days.

Phu Yen authorities said Son Giang had mined iron ore at the Phong Hanh mine, but failed to return the area to its original state after completion.
