A Chinese man injured his thigh when an elevator fell seven floors in the central resort town of Nha Trang on Monday.
Witnesses said Lan Guang, 35, entered the elevator at the seventh floor of the Quang Vinh Hotel on Tran Phu Street.
The machine then dropped “abnormally fast†and crashed into the ground when it reached the ground floor, witnesses said. Guang suffered a leg injury in the incident.
Quang Vinh’s owner Thai Dinh Truc said he had asked an outside maintenance company to check and repair the elevator one day earlier after he noticed it was having problems. The lift had been installed in 2007.
