Quang Nam Province in central Vietnam Friday began an appraisal of approved hydropower projects to scrap those adversely affecting people's lives.

The Department of Industry and Trade, which will work together with related agencies, will submit to the People's Committee by April a list of projects that are unviable or impact land administration or the lives of people.

Many communities in the central region, including Quang Nam, recently complained to the National Assembly that their farm lands have shrunk dramatically after being taken over for dams and mining.

Some 60 hydropower projects, large and small, have been approved to be built in Quang Nam.
