A bunch of police officers in Ho Chi Minh City took more than an hour last Saturday to arrest a car driver who crashed into a taxi and a motorbike and then a police bike and then refused to get out of his car.
Pham Cao Vu, 40, first hit the taxi from behind near the Dien Bien Phu – Pasteur intersection at around 1:30 p.m. before clipping a woman’s motorbike on the side, causing her to fall off and suffer slight injuries.
He kept driving but was stopped by some officers who were directing traffic.
But when they kept him waiting while they regulated the traffic, he started his car and hit a police bike parked in front, knocking it down, despite an officer pulling out a gun and another banging a baton on his car.
Some passers-by helped the officers stop his car, but Vu sat inside for nearly an hour and refused to climb out before they managed to pull him out. But he came out kicking and screaming before the officers managed to push him down to the ground and handcuff him.
A source told Thanh Nien that Vu was under medication and might have overdosed, which caused him to lose control.
