Two people were badly injured when a truck collided with a motorbike on an approach road to the recently-inaugurated Can Tho Bridge in the namesake Mekong Delta city Monday afternoon.
The first accident took place only two days after the bridge linking Can Tho City with Vinh Long Province opened to traffic.
The concrete mixer truck was moving towards Vinh Long when it suddenly hit the motorbike coming from the same direction, eye witnesses said.
The two injured motorbike riders were rushed to a nearby hospital.
Can Tho Bridge is the world's seventh longest cable-stayed bridge with a length of 2,750 meters.
It is Southeast Asia's longest suspension bridge with a main span of 550 meters.
