Police in the southern province of Dong Nai are searching for burglars who broke into a villa belonging to a provincial anti-corruption official and stole a luxury car early Thursday morning.

The owner of the imposing villa and the stolen car is Dong Xuan Tho, deputy chief of Dong Nai Province Anti-Corruption Steering Committee.

Tho used to be a paperwork officer at the Dong Nai Province Police Department.

Police said the thieves cut off the gate's lock and entered the garage in the front yard of the house in Buu Hoa Ward, Bien Hoa City.

They stole Tho's Toyota Corolla Altis.

According to initial police reports, Tho's driver drove the car into the garage but left all the papers and the car key inside the car before going to bed on Wednesday evening.

Police assume the thieves broke into the villa at around 4 a.m. Thursday. They are still investigating.
