Police in the central Vietnamese province of Quang Nam said Monday they were trying to find a buffalo that killed a woman and injured four other people after escaping from its pen, Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper reported.

The animal, belonging to Tran Hua, 78, of Hoa Tay village in Dai Loc District, escaped last Tuesday and ran amok, butting Truong Thi Hong, 49, who was walking on a street.

She died on the spot.

It then butted a man called Luong and seriously injured two students of a local secondary school.

When some passers-by chased after it, the buffalo ran up a mountain.

Two days later it returned to the village and injured a worker at a brick company.

The animal has not been seen after that.

Hua said he bought the buffalo from a farmer in the same commune three months ago.
