Police in Ho Chi Minh City are looking for two possible burglars who stabbed and killed a man for trying to stop their breaking and entering.
Initial investigation found the victim Huynh Tan Phong, 45, heard strange noises in his alley at around 3 a.m. and went out to check.
He saw two men trying to pick the lock at the front door of his neighbor's house.
The men told him the house was theirs but Phong knew they were lying, so he cried out.
They ran away and Phong chased after them, then one of them turned around and stabbed Phong, knocking him down.
His neighbors rushed Phong to hospital but he died soon later.
The thieves left a bag with many lock-picking tools.
Phong’s wife said he worked at construction sites and the family depends on his wages.
