The Ho Chi Minh City police have taken custody of the second suspect in a bag-snatching crime that was caught on a car camera after earlier arresting his accomplice.
According to the city police's social crimes division (PC45), on Wednesday they brought Le Minh Pha, 19, from the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang for questioning after he had been arrested there.
On September 25 he took Diep Tan Dung, 19, on his motorbike for the latter to snatch the bag of a 24-year-old woman identified only as Yen when she was also riding a motorbike.
The two fled to the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai after hearing that the video clip of their crime was on YouTube.
Police said they later returned to HCMC, but Pha managed to escape an attempt to apprehend him on October 23.
But on November 5 they caught Dung at his wife's house in District 9.
The video shows the duo going up to Yen on Nguyen Huu Canh Street and Dung grabbing her bag though she had it slung diagonally over her chest.
She fell off her bike, her helmet flew off when she hit the ground, and she was nearly struck by the camera car.
Dung and Pha fled with the bag.
