Police in central Vietnam have found the decomposing body of a girl in the jungle, identified as of a five-year old who has been missing for more than a month.
The missing girl is Ho Thi Thuong, daughter of Ho Van Hiep from Tay Tra District, Quang Ngai Province.
Ho Van Tuan, the district police chief, said initial results of forensic tests suggest Thuong could have died of starvation after being lost in the jungle for too long.
Thuong had been missing since October 5, after her father took her to school, approximately 3 kilometers from home. The father came back to school later that day and could not find her.
Police said the girl might have been scared on the first day and had tried to walk home instead of the entering her class, but got lost in the jungle approximately 1.5 kilometers from school.
But because the body of the girl was found in a high cavern, locals said the small girl could not have reached the site by herself.
Police are investigating the case.
