An explosion occurred at a commune administration office in the north-central province of Nghe An early Tuesday, but no casualties were reported.

People living near the Nghi Long Commune People's Committee office in Nghi Loc District heard a huge noise at around 2 a.m.

They rushed to the spot but by then the police had cordoned off the office for investigation.

They said the explosion occurred in the commune Party chief's room on the second floor.

The room's walls were cracked, the door and glass windows had been blown off, and furniture was damaged.

The police said no one was inside the office when the explosion occurred.

On Tuesday morning the office remained closed off for investigation.
