Rescuers have recovered the body of a Belgian tourist who allegedly drowned while swimming at a beach in the central city of Da Nang early Thursday morning, online newspaper VnExpress reported.
The body of Mollo Francois, 41, was found at around 5 am Thursday after a three-hour search.
Police said Francois and his friends went to My Khe beach near the Lifestyle Resort, where they were staying, in Da Nang at around 2 am after returning from a trip to Hoi An.
As the group swam a bit far from the shore, strong waves swept them away, police said. Francois was unable to swim to safety like his friends.
After being informed of the incident, the local coastguard arrived at the scene to search for the Belgian tourist.
His body was found some 250-300 meters from the shore.
