Police in Quang Nam Province have arrested a woman for taking a grizzly, fatal revenge on her cop husband.
Colonel Nguyen The Nghiep, one of the central province's senior investigators, issued a statement on Wednesday to announce the arrest of Nguyen Thi Thanh Trinh, 33, for the murder of her husband Truong Van Tam, 41.
Tam, a hamlet police officer was found dead at his home on January 7.
That morning, Trinh told police that she killed him while he was sleeping off a long night of drinking.
She said she smashed his head with the iron he used to fix bicycles--a job he did to earn extra income.
A forensic autopsy revealed that Trinh's blows fractured Tam's skull and caused fatal cerebral trauma.
Trinh also buried an ax in his face.
“Trinh said she and her husband haven't been getting along for years and recently separated,” Nghiep said.
“The main reason Trinh said she killed her husband was because he beat her every time he got drunk.”
Trinh reported his death to the police.
Some locals said her arrest came as a shock; they believed Tam had been killed by people he'd argued with over property boundaries.
The investigation into the crime remains underway.
